Robotiq / application buying guide
Robotiq 2F-85 Adaptive Gripper – Basic Unit
The Robotiq 2F-85 is an adaptive two-finger gripper with an 85 mm stroke and a published 5 kg payload class. This listing identifies the basic gripper unit, AGC-GRP-2F85. Buyers needing a complete robot-specific integration kit should request the appropriate coupling, cable and software package explicitly.

Where Robotiq 2F-85 fits
Applications and buying fit
Consider it for small-part handling, assembly, machine tending and manipulation research where product shapes vary. Its mechanical grasping approach is different from a suction tool. Match jaw contact geometry, opening, force and access to the actual workpiece.
What this offer covers
Confirm whether the offer is the basic unit or a complete robot kit. List the gripper, fingertips, coupling, cables, adapters, software and mounting hardware individually. The basic-unit SKU should not be used to promise a plug-and-play UR kit without those components.

Integration and compatibility
Software and control
Identify the robot controller, flange and communication method before selecting the kit. Robotiq offers developer resources and integrations, but available features depend on the exact hardware, controller and software versions. A basic unit does not imply every protocol adapter or robot plugin is included.
Engineering checks that matter
AGC-GRP-2F85 identifies the basic unit. A UR installation may need a coupling, cable, interface and the correct plugin. Current Robotiq development resources include ROS 2 and simulation assets, but those resources do not turn a bare unit into a commissioned application. Check finger access around neighbouring parts as well as opening width.
Compare configurations before buying
Compared with 2F-140, 2F-85 has a smaller opening and a different published payload class. Compared with EPick, it uses fingers rather than vacuum. For tactile research, the TSF-85 Starter Kit is a separately selected accessory rather than an assumed inclusion.
| Metric / scope | 2F-85 | 2F-140 |
|---|---|---|
| Stroke | 85 mm | 140 mm |
| Published maximum payload | 5 kg | 2.5 kg |
| Selection emphasis | Compact adaptive handling | Wider opening |
| Price comparison | Basic unit versus robot kit | Compare equivalent included hardware |
Plan the complete installation
Stroke is not a guarantee that all objects of that width can be retained securely. Test friction, form-fit geometry, acceleration, surface condition and damage limits. The robot arm must accommodate the gripper, any adapters and the carried object within its own load envelope.
How to validate the application
Test maximum opening, access clearance and minimum reliable grip. Include oily or slippery surfaces where relevant. Inspect for marking after repeated handling. Record finger geometry, grip settings and load assumptions in the acceptance configuration.
Agree the acceptance evidence
Define the representative products or parts, operating conditions and pass criteria before approval. Keep the selected hardware, software versions and settings with the test record. Assign responsibility for installation, commissioning, training and recovery procedures in the proposal.
Robotiq 2F-85 price, supply and package scope
Request a written quotation
Ask for the exact model, condition, quantity and itemised accessories. Selling price and lead time are confirmed against that offer. External market listings are research references and are not our selling prices or proof of stock.
Delivery, warranty and support
Confirm packing, insurance, freight terms, customs responsibilities and the service location for your destination. Warranty coverage and return procedures depend on the supplied package and commercial agreement. Request installation and training separately where required.
Documentation and project resources
Robotiq 2F-85 frequently asked questions
Is this the complete Universal Robots kit?
This listing identifies the basic unit AGC-GRP-2F85. Request the matching UR integration kit separately if required.
Are tactile fingertips included?
TSF-85 tactile fingertips are a separate accessory unless explicitly included in the quotation.
Can it lift every 5 kg object?
No universal handling guarantee is implied. Validate contact geometry, grip mode, friction, acceleration and the arm’s total load limits.
Is a 5 kg rating valid for every finger design?
No. Grasp mode, friction, finger extension and acceleration affect allowable application load.
How do I request an accurate quotation?
Send the exact model, delivery country, quantity, required configuration and target purchase date. Include the task, existing equipment and any acceptance requirement so the offer can be checked against your application.
What delivery and warranty terms apply?
The written quotation must identify freight terms, import responsibilities, lead time, warranty coverage and service route. A third-party seller listing does not establish AI Robot Supplier inventory or delivery commitments.
